Horse Consult
£695.00
A comprehensive remote veterinary behaviour consultation supporting horses and their owners across the UK.
This service is centred on clinical assessment and collaborative planning. Together, we work to understand the emotional drivers, motivations, management influences and potential medical factors contributing to your horse’s behaviour. From this, we develop a structured, practical plan tailored to your individual horse and yard environment.
Remote consultations provide accessible, UK-wide clinical support while allowing time for thorough discussion of management, handling and training practices.
Common concerns include:- Repetitive behaviours
- Human-directed aggression
- Fear of inanimate objects (including fireworks)
- Management or performance-related concerns, including issues such as loading
- Pre-Consultation Assessment: You will complete a detailed behavioural and management questionnaire covering your horse’s history, environment, daily routine, social structure, handling, training practices, and medical background. This allows thorough case preparation before we meet.
- Clinical Consultation (Remote, UK-Wide): A 2-hour structured remote consultation focused on developing a clear understanding of your horse’s behaviour.
- Explore the context and pattern of behaviours
- Identify likely emotional drivers and motivations
- Consider medical and welfare influences
- Assess management, training, and environmental factors
Where appropriate, liaison with your primary care veterinary surgeon may be recommended to ensure medical factors are fully considered.
Behavioural Formulation & Written Report:
Following the consultation, you will receive a formal clinical report outlining:
- A structured behavioural analysis describing the emotional drivers, environmental influences, and maintaining factors contributing to the behaviour
- Practical, evidence-based recommendations
- A tailored behaviour modification and management plan designed to improve welfare, safety, and long-term outcomes
Structured Follow-Up Support:
Two structured follow-up consultations are included at 2 weeks and 4 weeks after the initial assessment. These sessions allow us to review progress, refine recommendations, and provide continued clinical guidance as changes are implemented.
Further follow-up sessions can be arranged where clinically indicated to provide ongoing support.
Where appropriate and safe to do so, a yard visit can be arranged to assess behaviour in context, including handling, ridden work, or specific management situations.
If additional practical support is required, collaboration with suitable, welfare-focused trainers or equine professionals can be arranged to ensure consistent and appropriate implementation of the plan.
