Horse Consult
£695.00
A comprehensive remote behaviour consultation for horses and their owners across the UK.
Whether your horse is difficult to load, becoming harder to handle, frightened in certain situations or showing behaviour that you simply do not understand, we can help you work out what may be driving it and what to do next.
During the consultation, we take time to look at the whole picture. This includes your horse’s behaviour, emotions, previous experiences, day to day management and training, as well as any other factors that may be influencing how they are feeling and responding.
Together, we will develop a practical and realistic plan tailored to your horse, your circumstances and your yard environment. The aim is not simply to stop unwanted behaviour, but to understand why it is happening and help your horse feel more comfortable and confident.
Remote consultations allow us to work with owners across the UK and give us plenty of time to talk through your horse’s history, management, handling and training in detail.
We can help with concerns including:
- Loading and travelling difficulties
- Handling problems, including leading, catching, grooming, feet, vet or farrier visits
- Fear, spookiness or anxiety around particular objects, places or noises
- Aggression or threatening behaviour towards people
- Repetitive or unusual behaviours
- Management or performance related behaviour
Before your consultation
You will be asked to complete a detailed questionnaire about your horse, including their history, daily routine, environment, social life, handling, training and medical background. This helps us get to know your horse and prepare properly before we meet.
Your consultation
The initial consultation takes place remotely and lasts around 2 hours. This gives us time to talk through what has been happening, when the behaviour occurs and what may be contributing to it.
During the consultation we will look at:
- When and where the behaviour happens
- How your horse may be feeling in those situations
- Their previous experiences and learning
- Their management, environment and daily routine
- Handling and training
- Any other factors that may be affecting their behaviour
If needed, we may recommend speaking with your usual veterinary surgeon so that your horse’s health can also be taken into account.
Your written report and plan
Following the consultation, you will receive a written report explaining our understanding of your horse’s behaviour and the factors that may be contributing to it.
This will include:
- Practical recommendations for you and your horse
- Changes to management where appropriate
- A tailored training and behaviour plan
- Clear steps to help you start making progress
The plan will be designed around your individual horse, your circumstances and what is realistic within your yard environment.
Yard visit
If you are within a suitable travelling distance of Lincoln, at least one yard visit can be included as part of your support.
This gives us the opportunity to see your horse in their usual environment, look at how the yard set up may be influencing the problem and begin practical training with you and your horse.
Seeing the situation in person also allows us to adapt the plan around the space, facilities and management available to you. This may include working on handling, loading, ridden work or other situations that you are finding difficult.
Follow up support
Two follow up consultations are included, usually around 2 weeks and 4 weeks after the initial consultation.
Between these sessions, you will also have access to WhatsApp support so that you can ask questions, share updates and get help if you are unsure how to move forward with part of the plan.
The follow up sessions give us the chance to review progress, make changes where needed and support you as you put the plan into practice.
Further follow up in-person sessions can also be arranged if you would like ongoing support – charged at £85/hr.
If you would benefit from additional hands-on support, we can also work alongside suitable trainers or other equine professionals to help you put the plan into practice.
